What if you could record without even opening an app? With iOS lock screen widgets, you can add TapDiary buttons right to your lock screen and record with a single tap. Here's how to set it up.

Why a Lock Screen Widget Matters

The biggest enemy of consistent recording is friction. Every step between you and the record, finding the app, opening it, tapping the button, reduces the chance you'll actually log it. A lock screen widget cuts that down to one tap.

Step 1: Enter Lock Screen Edit Mode

Long press on your iPhone's lock screen. When the edit screen appears, tap "Customize" at the bottom. Then select "Lock Screen."

Step 2: Tap the Widget Area

Tap the widget area below the date. The "Add Widgets" screen will appear.

Step 3: Find and Select TapDiary

Search for TapDiary in the widget list and select it. Choose the button you want, and it's instantly added to your lock screen.

Faster Morning Routines

A lock screen widget is especially useful for morning habits. When you grab your coffee, tap the coffee button on your lock screen. No searching for the app, no opening anything. Same for medication, water, or a morning workout.

Use Case Examples

Tap right when you drink your morning coffee. Tap right after taking your medication. Tap when you start exercising. Recording in the exact moment something happens makes it easier to keep up the habit.

Combine with Memos

By default, tapping the widget records instantly without opening the app. If you want to add a memo at the same time, enable 'Open app after recording' in the widget settings. When turned on, tapping the widget opens TapDiary so you can add a memo right away.

Add Multiple Widget Buttons

You can add up to 4 TapDiary widgets to your lock screen. Place your most-used buttons there so you can track your key habits without ever opening the app.
